    Can a child theme be made for Garden Pro? Are there extra files/folders to be copied?

    Child theme is already created for garden pro. There is no need to copy any files. Please let us know if you need child theme.

    I would rather know what is required for a child theme that is different that a typical wp child theme setup as described in the wp handbook: https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/advanced-topics/child-themes/
